rules for the competition, 2016/2017
Teen Actor Awards General Rules:
Overview. The Competition begins October 17, 2016 (the “Competition Start Date”) and ends February 1, 2017 (the “Competition End Date”), such period referred to herein as the “Competition Period.” The Competition is produced by Acting Teacher Studio, a division of the Drama Teachers Alliance, LLC (Competition Producer). This is a skill-based competition and chance plays no part in the determination of any Winner.
Eligibility. Subject to the limitations set out herein, high school freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors may participate ("You”). If You are a minor, You must have your parent's or legal guardian's permission to enter and Your parent or legal guardian must agree, on your behalf and on his or her own behalf, to follow and be bound by these RULES and warrant that You are eligible to participate in the Competition. You must reside in the United States to enter. If you have graduated high school and taken one year off, you are eligible to enter as long as you did not yet enroll in college and you are now entering college as a freshman. (Transfer college students are not eligible to enter.) Entries are limited to individuals only. Entries that are submitted in connection with the Competition will only be eligible if such Entries (i) are in English, (ii) include (a) Your name and grade and (b) one of the official list of monologues which are found in the Winning Your Acting Auditions book (iii) do not include any other individual other than the individual participant. The Competition Producer will allow only those entries that meet all of these criteria, in the sole discretion of the Competition Producer. Under no circumstances will the Competition Producer be required to treat any Content as confidential. The Competition Producer will be entitled to use the Content for any purpose whatsoever without permission from or compensation to You or any other person.
How to Submit an Entry. To submit an Entry for the Competition, go to teenactorawards.com and click “Enter” at the top of the webpage and follow the instructions. You will see the link which opens up the registration page where You will pay the $49.00 entry fee. (Entry fee is non refundable) You will receive one (1) Entry into the Competition. You must then follow the guidelines to enter your Entry video. You may not Enter more than one time; multiple Entries from an entrant are not allowed and will be disqualified. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY February 1, 2017. Once submitted, Your Entry becomes the exclusive property of the Competition Producer and will not be acknowledged or returned. Proof of submission of an entry does not constitute proof of receipt by Competition Producer. Competition Producer may disqualify, in its sole and absolute discretion, Entries that are (i) not reasonably pertinent to the subject matter of the Competition, (ii) duplicates of previous Entries, or (iii) illegible, incomplete, or forged. Any Entry otherwise in violation of these RULES may also be disqualified. Participation in the Competition is voluntary and, other then the Entry fee, does not require You to purchase anything from the Competition Producer. The Competition Producer will have no obligation (express or implied) to use or display any Entry and may at any time abandon the use of Your Entry for any reason, or for no reason. You (or Your parent/guardian if a minor) agree to defend, indemnify and hold the Competition Producer harmless from and against, any claims, liabilities, actions, damages, costs and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with the Your Entry or Your participation in the Competition.
Selection of Winner: The judging takes place by in-house staff and a committee of faculty from the respective competition sponsors. The Winners and Finalists will be announced on or about February 15, 2017, and the selection of the Winners shall be binding on You and all entrants.
Grant of Rights: Except where prohibited by law, by submitting an Entry, You (or Your parent/guardian if a minor) hereby irrevocably grants to Competition Producer and its subsidiaries, affiliates, legal representatives, assigns, agents, and licensees, the unconditional and perpetual right and permission to reproduce, encode, store, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, publicly perform, adapt, exhibit, and/or otherwise use or reuse, without limitation, Your Entry, as submitted or as edited, altered, or modified in any way by the Competition Producer or its respective designee(s), in the Competition Producer’s sole discretion, in any media throughout the world for any purpose, without limitation and without additional review, compensation, or approval from You or any other party. You also grant the Competition Producer the right to use Your name, image, voice, likeness, photos, statements, biographical materials, Prize information and other material and information, without limitation, for the Competition Producer’s promotional purposes without further permission or compensation.
Winner Notification and Prize Claim: On or about February 15, 2017, an email notification will be sent to the Winners and Finalists to the email addresses provided at the time of Entry. The Winners and Finalists will be required to verify eligibility by completing, signing, notarizing, and returning an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability/Publicity Release within five (5) business days of attempted mail notification, or the Prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate. If any of the Winners or Finalists are a minor in his/her state of residence, such minor’s parent or legal guardian must sign and complete the Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability/Publicity Release on such minor’s behalf. If any Prize is forfeited for any reason, the it will be awarded to an alternate winner.
Limitation of Liability and Release: By submitting Your Entry, You (or Your parent/guardian if a minor) agree to release, discharge and hold harmless the Competition Producer and its partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, consultants, legal counsel, advertising, public relations, promotional, fulfillment and marketing agencies, website providers, Web masters, agents, employees, officers, directors and representatives (all of the foregoing, the “Released Parties”) from any Loss arising out of Your participation in this Competition and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any Prize. The Released Parties assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to Entries or Application forms; or alteration of entries or entry forms. Released Parties are not responsible for any problems with or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or any website, human errors of any kind, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrants' or any other persons' computers related to or resulting from participation, uploading or downloading of any materials related to this Competition. The Released Parties are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by any Website users, tampering, hacking or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Competition and assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, technical error, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to the Website or any Competition-related website(s). Without limiting the foregoing, everything regarding the Competition, including this Website and Prize, are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
Shenandoah University Rules: Shenandoah University is pleased to announce that the two winners (one male, one female) of the Teen Actor Competition will each receive a Presidential Scholarship in the sum of $20,000 per year, provided they have: 1) completed their Shenandoah University Undergraduate Application and 2) fully met all requirements for admission to Shenandoah University by March 1, 2017. Each of the six finalists will be eligible to receive a Conservatory Award of up to $12,000, provided they have: 1) completed their Shenandoah University Undergraduate Application and 2) fully met all requirements for admission to Shenandoah University by March 1, 2017. Presidential Scholarships and Conservatory Awards made in conjunction with the Teen Actor Awards competition may be used to defray the cost of tuition for attending Shenandoah University only and are not transferable to other institutions. Presidential Scholarships and Shenandoah Conservatory Awards made in conjunction with the Teen Actor Awards competition are renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) and are reviewed annually. Recipients of Presidential Scholarships and Conservatory Awards must maintain satisfactory progress in their course of study and are also required to contribute substantially and productively toward the artistic stature of the Conservatory.
